What is SEO and What is Not?

How we used to start the SEO definition. SEO was just search engine optimization. Search engine optimization was also about filling the page with keywords.

In the years when Nokia came to mind when it came to mobile phones, the concept of SEO was in our lives.

Think about what kind of technological development it has been since then.

Think about the extent to which the software has come. The dimensions of digitalization reached unthinking dimensions 15 years ago, 20 years ago. And in 15 years, it’s hard to predict what size it’s going to be.

The Widespread of the Internet And SEO

Now the concept of the internet is more in our lives, even part of our lives.

Search engines and social media have also become a part of all of our lives, big and small.

Everyone digited everything: The store shop, the journalist’s newspaper, the banker’s bank, the cameraman videos, his recipes who love to cook, the knitters knitting, the antiques of the antiques… And much more: encyclopedias, novels, stories, lessons. Schools, students, museums, stadiums, roads, bridges, travels, wars, peace …

Everything we can/doesn’t think of, everything we dreamed of/didn’t imagine, is now digital.

So a huge chunk of data appeared. Millions of stores, tens of thousands of newspapers, billions of people, and enough queries to be less than what number we write.

 

Search Engines, Google and SEO

Search engines are tools designed to find and retrieve the data the user is looking for from this huge data. It is clearly at the top of these search engines in Google.

In the early years, Google was taking the user’s query and bringing the content through which this query passed.

Some website editors fill their pages randomly with keywords and Google could not extract those pages. These pages came first in the query results.

Over time, Google grew, software evolved, technology evolved, the AI factor emerged.

They can no longer even rank to be at the top of the rankings, not such pages.

What does Google want?

The user must find what they are looking for when they enter the page.

First must find what you’re looking for as a performance.

Almost no user expects a late-installed site.

They immediately look at other sites.

Google now measures up to these. There’s a Google that measures how long users stay on the site, the times they leave the site right away, and their rates.

What else is Google looking at?

Is the site built so that the user can easily move between the site pages?

Are site title structures added in accordance with the title hierarchy?

Is the title and content compatible?

Is the text in the content original text?

What is the keyword density ratio? What is the text code ratio?

Do users read the article to the end or read its head and close it?

Are the articles large enough for users to read?

The user may be visually impaired. And will the user in this situation be able to read the article?

Is there an voice assistant for a visually impaired user?

What is the value of the site in the presence of other sites, social media users?

What is the audience that the site appeals to? What is the traffic and traffic resources of the site?

Does the site get traffic at certain times or all the time? (The site may be aimed at a seasonal job.)

Tens, hundreds of questions can be asked, such as the above questions.

Content should be produced with all this in place, calculating all scenarios.

The site must have a clean code structure.

It should be able to work without problems in all devices and browsers.

It should meet W3C standards, there should be no unnecessary encodings, especially js and css codes used only on that page on each page; unnecessary ones shouldn’t be called.

The site should be hosted on a good server, there should be no continuous outages, it should be better than capacity and response time.

The IP address must be specific to that site only.

They’re just examples. SEO is a concept that will not be explained so much, books are written on it, trainings are given, it is a necessity beyond concept.

SEO has become a complicated and long process in which many variables are intertwined today, data analysis, user analysis, web analysis, social media, reporting are involved.

SEO Expert or SEO Consultant is the person who can identify a problem that has never been written, unknown, which has never been encountered before and make a roadmap containing the necessary interventions, although there are many methods written in this regard that have been proven to be of benefit or harm.
